The BarnBurner 2022 NBA draft big board + bonus second round scouts
Let's review my first round big board along with a slew of information on the likely second round selections.
This year, I watched film and read up on over 50 NBA prospects who have thrown their name into the NBA draft. There are a lot of ways to look at breakdowns of players or create lists in intriguing ways.
For this exercise, I have listed my big board for the first round and also included my notes on additional players who I think have potential to go in the second round. For the second round group, all players are listed in alphabetical order of last name.
This may be a helpful source to have handy to help you drop some knowledge on your friends on Thursday as you text them during the action.
Enjoy!
1) Jabari Smith - Freshman, Auburn
Wing/Forward, 6’10”, 220 lbs
16.9 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 2.0 apg
42.9% / 42.0% / 79.9%
Solid three point shooter on 5.5 attempts per game. Good mechanics and shows in C&S settings
Ability to shoot over guys with wingspan that is over 7 foot
Like to do the Durant-esque fadeaway from all over the floor
Good perimeter defender. Moves good side-to-side. Opponents shot 25% against him(!)
No issues bringing the ball up the court, looking for breakout pass
Lacks ability to get to the rim from the perimeter
Not great finisher at the rim and bad from long two’s. Takes a lot of jump shots. Not really a playmaker
Doesn’t play as a big, more of a wing guy body type
Decent block rate
Greatest strength is his shooting ability by far
Very high ceiling if he can shore up defense some more and find a way to be more physical around the rim, otherwise will be a tall perimeter player/shooter
2) Paulo Banchero, Freshman - Duke
Forward, 6’10”, 1259 lbs
17.2 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 3.2 apg
47.8% / 33.8% / 72.9%
Physically is the complete package with leaping ability
Ability to create shots for himself and others, good ball handler who glides along the court
Scores at all three levels with confidence
Quick pullup off the dribble
Likes to score starting facing the basket and can get crafty with his finishing around the rim
Showed flashes of creative passing, especially to big Mark Williams
He is going to be able to score on a variety of NBA sets
Issues losing focus on defense, around a block and steal per game
Seemed to be easily faked by first move on defense. When he wants it, he’s solid. Lots of room for development and could be progressed at the next level if it is a focus area
Three point shooting is pretty average, but at least teams will have to respect him
He is an all-around threat that can get to the rack and get you a bucket
3) Jaden Ivey, Sophomore - Purdue
Guard, 6‘4”, 195 lbs
17.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.1 apg
46.0% / 35.8% / 74.4%
6’9” wingspan and extremely athletic, Morant vibes
28/31 on dunks and great ball handler in transition
Super quick and great first step. Good handles and weaves through traffic.
68% on close two’s on 162 attempts
Upped three point percentage by 10 points from freshman year - good work ethic?
Likes to push the tempo
Good passing upside, but not gaudy assist numbers
29% on far twos. Not a good pull-up scorer
2.6 turnovers per game, so gives it away a lot. Tries to force shots sometime, gets in air before making decision
On defense, he tends to get lost and ball watch. However, almost a steal per game. Has spurts where he’s engaged but not consistent.
Projects as a good scorer and combo guard with a high ceiling.
Right now he needs transition buckets to consistently contribute, but has the tools to navigate in the half court as well
C&S is not his strength and mid-range isn’t pretty right now
Best guard in the class
4) Chet Holmgren, Freshman - Gonzaga
Center, 7’, 195 lbs
14.2 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.9 apg, 3.7 bpg
60.9% / 39.2% / 73.2%
4th in blocks per game in CBB. &’6” wingspan and keeps good verticality. Great from the weak side as well
Decent perimeter defending due to wingspan and decent mobility
Not the quickest player, but has a high IQ. He will impact the shot
57/57 on dunks and 84% near the rim. Elite closer
Can operate well in the dunker spot
Good three point shooter. Operates in pick and pops and also training threes
Handles ball well in transition and shields the ball well with him body
Most of scoring starts with him facing the basket
Did you know that he is skinny?
Could potentially be boxed out more by stronger opponents
Not necessarily a self-creator
Rim protection plus outside shooting are definite strengths and highlights of his impact
5) Keegan Murray, Sophomore - Iowa
Forward, 6’8”, 215 lbs
23.5 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.3 bpg
50.6% / 39.8% / 74.7%
Has coast to coast dribble abilities and knows how to get down the court
College PER was 37.8!!
Takes care of the ball very well, 7th lowest TO rate in CBB with 7th best ORTG
Spin moves and finishes on drives Brandon Clarke style
Super efficient scorer and usage rate of over 28. Favors post moves including athletic hooks and also step backs
Not gonna bust past anyone with his speed in isolation, but creative and strong finisher when he gets near the rim. Top inside finisher in CBB. 70% on close twos, 40% on long twos
Decent and moving feet on defense. Not gonna say he is super quick, but heady defender who hustles
Top 100 in block rate
His usage went up and his efficiency also did year over year
Almost a pair of threes made per game on high attempts
So many ways he could fit into an NBA offense and contribute
Going to be 22 years old as a rookie. Should be able to immediately contribute
Versatility to guard smaller centers and wings on the outside and also pull bigs away from the hoop when on offense
6) AJ Griffin, Freshman - Duke
Wing, 6’ 6”, 220 lbs
10.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.0 apg
49.3% / 44.7% / 79.2%
Very efficient scorer on 4 3PA. He’s a knockdown shooter from three. Didn’t attempt many mid range shots
7’ wingspan. Under 19 years old
Excellent spot up shooter from threes, knows how to get open. Probably a high BBIQ
Has the step back three in his repertoire
Can really score from all three levels
Not crazy quick off the drive but nice pull-up ability
Pretty good handles for a guy his size
Very low TO rate
On ball defense on the outside is lacking. Slow to keep up with smaller quick guards
Off-ball gave up a lot of backdoor cuts
Better defender on the inside. With his big body he can hold his own in the post
He was injured with knee and ankle issues most of the last two years of high school, so likely slowed him down some at Duke
Overview - consistent shooter with potential to handle the ball and create for his teammates. Floor spacing. Defense needs a lot of work. Should be a mid-lottery pick.
7) Benedict Mathurin, Sophomore - Arizona
Wing, 6’6”, 210 lbs
17.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.5 apg
45.0% / 36.9% / 76.4%
Almost six 3PA per game, great spot up shooter, doesn’t have to be on ball to score. Lots of threes coming off of baseline and curling towards elbow
Nearly as many three point attempts as two point attempts. He was not good on far two’s (28%)
Smart on offense and knows how to put himself in position for dunks, almost forty dunks on the season
He is a good athlete with quick and high hops
Arizona did a lot of PnR and he was frequently the ball-handler turned shooter
Good potential as a defender and can frustrate ball handler with his hands. Shows surprising quickness on defense with good footwork.
He’s a solid 3D guy who is consistent on offense and shows glimpse of excellent defense
No great handles, most of his offense from three point shots or assists from teammates
Nothing exceptional about his passing at this point
Feels like he still has a lot of room to grow since he is only 20 years old
8) Johnny Davis, Sophomore - Wisconsin
Guard, 6’5”, 195 lbs
19.7 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.1 apg
43.2% / 30.6% / 79.1%
Bucket getter who plays very strong and takes it right at defenders
Super high usage at Wisconsin. Efficiency numbers saw a dip from freshman season
Likes to score in isolation, can rise up above defenders for jump shots
Can score with his back to the basket on fadeaways
Solid defender with long arms. Moves feet well and also recovers on drives. Fights through screens to get back in position. Actively engaged on that side of the ball
Plays physical and doesn't shy away from contact on either side of the ball. 23rd in fouls drawn in CBB
Not the highest athleticism, but has toughness and physicality going for him. Can get beat off of the ball, but isn’t going to let him get off track
Good defensive rebounder
Projects as a good C&S guy. However, he is streaky, had 10 games with zero threes and 10 games with 2+ threes
Not a primary creator but can score in isolation on a variety of players and can get hot and hit from threes. At Wisc, he was the focal point of the defense and he was forced to do too much
9) Dyson Daniels - G League Ignite
CG, 6’7’’, 200 lbs
11.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 4.4 apg
45.3% / 25.5% / 52.5%
Leads Ignite in assists. Passing is his offensive strength
Defensively, great on-ball defender with good size also
Ability to stay in front of drivers and forces them to take tough shots
Stats don’t cover all games. They aren’t all publicly available, shot 40% from three last ten games
Great hustle guy looking to do the small things and who doesn’t need to score a ton to impact the game
Shooting will be a question mark for him, not good so far from three, but started hitting later in season
Good finisher at the rim, no concern playing into contact, can finish with both hands
Plays with a lot of off-pace so not a fast straight line player who pushes the tempo necessarily
Not the fleetest of foot or the quickest first step, but uses his body well to shield the ball
Overall, appeal is in his playmaking ability/passing and defensive impact on the ball. Probably one of the better passers and defenders on the outside in the draft. Like his ability to stay involved without needing to be the scorer
10) Shaedon Sharpe - High School/Kentucky
Wing/Athlete, 6’6”, 175 lbs
One of the top prospects coming into college but didn’t play at UK
Incredible leaping ability, sheesh. Loves to hammer home dunks
Can score from all over the court
Dribbles like a pro with ability to slink around the court and stop on a dime
Can shoot from all over the court, excellent finisher at the rim from above or on crafty layups
Streaky shooter, but probably something coaching could correct? Was unranked then top prospect
Lacks big time experience, but athleticism and ability is there for sure. Would be drafting him off of pure wild potential. Needs a handful of years to get settled in to the NBA
11) Jalen Duren - Freshman, Memphis
Big, 6’11”, 250 lbs
12.0 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 2.1 bpg
59.7%/ 0%/ 62.5 %
7’5” wingspan, top 30 shot blocker, totally stacked physically
Can wait until late to jump and block shots due to wingspan on help side and transition
B+ defense on the perimeter against smaller players. Memphis switched a lot and he held his own. Chase down blocks as well
Great finisher and rim runner in transition
Absolute lob threat - finish one or two handed
Elite offensive rebounder (top 30)
Good looking shooting stroke, elite from short 2 (73%), but 36% on far two’s. Some faceups that looked good, potential for growth in that area
Not great at back to the basket scoring
Decent passer, but lots of turnovers, and fouls
Needs some help with floor awareness on D sometimes, but has super high ceiling
12) Ochai Agbaji, Senior - Kansas
Wing, 6’5”, 210 lbs
18.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.6 apg
47.5% / 40.7% / 74.3%
Elit C&S, especially from the corners, definitely has NBA range
6’10” wingspan
Three point percentage grew 10 percentage points from freshman year and attempts went from 3.4 to 6.5
Converted on 73% of close two’s
Just turned 22 years old in April
Moves well without the ball to get open for threes
Good athlete with hops who can make teams pay for overplaying him in perimeter
Decent defender in switchy scheme, disciplined and plays with intelligence of a veteran
Does not create his own shots, not super explosive off the bounce, short points are off of passes and not his drives. Not good finisher with left hand
Played 35 minutes per night, but only 1.6 assists
Potential to be a solid 3-D guy. Elite three point shooter who can get open and convert from deep or at the rim
13) Dalen Terry, Sophomore - Arizona
Guard, 6’ 7”, 195 lbs
8.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.9 apg
50.2% / 36.4% / 73.6%
Low usage rate for a guard, but efficient
Has ability to hammer it home and play above the rack
Creative finishing ability with good percentage at the basket
Shooting off the dribble is yet to be seen
Didn’t have high volume of threes, though he converted on them pretty good
Good rebounder and fun passer who makes quick decisions
Smart cutter who knows how to get open near the rim, not necessarily creating the shots for himself in that area, though he does have a post-up game
Not going to be primary ball handler, but can take some reps away from lead guard and push the tempo when needed
Long arms can disrupt a lot in passing lanes - turning into fast breaks, 7-1 wingspan!
High upside guy with good shooting numbers
Lots of two-way potential with Terry
14) Mark Williams, Sophomore - Duke
Center, 7, 245 lbs
11.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 2.8 bpg
72.1% / 00% / 72.7%
Played only 23 minutes per game
7’7” wingspan and fantastic rim protector with a good feel. Honestly a ridiculous rim defender
9-9 standing reach. Wow
Plays solid D in post and also on guards/recovery
Can hold his own if switched onto guards in the PnR. Utilizes his length to his advantage
5th most efficient 2 point percentage in CBB
Good hands and touch. Looks really nice in the PnR as a roll man
96/101 on dunks. Led CBB. He is very emphatic and intense on his dunks. Goes to the rim with tenacity. This dude is very strong
1:1 assist to turnover ratio, about 1 each per game. Passing is not his strong suit and he also isn’t much of a dribbler
Some of his fouls are silly and concerning. Plays like Jaren Jackson with arms down a bit too much. 2.1 fouls per game in his 23 minutes
Not a jump shooter, but converted on 43% of far twos in small sample size
I get Clint Capela vibes
15) Marjon Beauchamp, G-League Ignite
Wing, 6’6’’, 200 lbs
15.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.6 spg
57.1% / 24.2% / 65.0%
Seven foot + wingspan
Played previously in CC
Almost 22 years old
Very good leaper and dunker - a lot in transition
Doesn’t mind drawing contact, tough finisher
Good on-ball defender from the perimeter, plays defense with feet and chest, not arms. Needs work on being a team defender, rotations
Competitive on closeouts
Confident on mid-range pull ups off the dribble
Played a lot more with the ball in his hands in Juco
Ability to handle the ball, both in transition and in the half court. Not a great creator, but can carry it down the floor when needed.
Not a consistent shooter from deep as evidenced by 3P%
Did miss a lot of open threes with GLI
He’s going to be a dunker spot, transition athlete with good defensive ability
16) EJ Liddell, Junior - Ohio State
Forward, 6’7”, 240 lbs
19.4 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 2.6 bpg
49.0% / 37.4% / 76.5%
Three point percentage got better every year with increased attempts
21 year old junior who went back to school to work on his game
Shorter big but built like a tank
Highest no step vertical at the combine at 35.5”
Fights through contact on offense, embraces it really. Almost 7 FTA per game
Really good rim protector, top 50 block rate
Really heady help defender
Feel like the lazy comp is PJ Tucker, a guy who can contribute in many ways to a winning team
Good spot up shooter and keeps improving
Quick enough to wreak some havoc on the perimeter on defense
Good basketball IQ and hustles hard
Also 2.5 assists
Solid three point shooter on 3.8 attempts per game
Not someone who is going to beat guys off the dribble face up from the arc
Doesn’t really play above the rim
17) Ousmane Dieng, 18yo - France/NBL
Point Forward, 6’10”, 205 lbs
8.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.0 apg
39.8% / 27.1% / 66.7%
Like to take step backs from three and floaters. Seems to shy away from too much physical contact
Comfortable ball handler who gets into the paint with gliding motion
Played 20 minutes per game
Nearly half of 8.7 shots per game were from three
Crafty and creative passer who gets the ball through tight windows to teammates
Likes to drive and do a dump pass to teammates
His NBL team (Breakers) is very bad
Doesn’t seem to have intrinsic toughness or willingness to put his body on the line
Can he build on C&S?
He is pretty far away from being a valid NBA player. High upside but needs some G-League minutes for sure. Ability to create opportunities for teammates is strength
18) Patrick Baldwin Jr. - Freshman, Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Wing, 6’9”, 220 lbs
12.1 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.5 apg
34.4%/ 26.6%/ 74.3%
Smooth jumper with long wingspan. Very lengthy
Only played eleven games due to ankle injury
Only 52% on close 2’s. Finishing a concern at this point
Numbers don’t reflect the talent and ceiling
Can move the ball and ability to make creative passes
Not the quickest first step, not elite athlete
He was usually the focus of the defense
Can get lost on screens and back cuts
Solid rebounder, especially defensively
Ability to guard multiple positions
Good free throw percentage on 64 attempts
The potential is pretty high for PBJ with his size and shooting ability.
19) Jeremy Sochan, Freshman - Baylor
Forward, 6’9”, 230 lbs
9.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.8 apg
47.4% / 29.6% / 58.9%
Takes a lot of fadeaway shots. Converted on 75% of shots on close 2’s. Relies a lot on spin moves to get to the rim or to set himself up for fadeaway
Some action in the dunker spot
Decent passing ability after drives
Two STOCKS per game in 25 mpg. Long arms allow him to recover and reach into passing lanes
Seven foot wingspan
Not a good shooter away from the rim or at the free throw line
He is a disruptor and has long arms that can muck things up on defense. Very versatile defender. At this size, he can defend a lot of positions
Not going to be a high usage guy on offense and could slot into a team that needs a tough defender who can convert near the rim
20) Wendell Moore, Junior - Duke
Wing, 6’5”, 215 lbs
13.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4.4 apg
50% / 41.3% / 80%
Seven foot wingspan
1.4 steals per game and great assist rate
Slides well on defense and knows how to use his length without jumping and going for pump fakes
Good at anticipating and jumping into passing lanes
Intelligent passer, likes to get into the lane and dish out
Lots of PNR and ability to find roll man (frequently Mark Williams)
Frequently was ball handler in PNR
The more threes he shot at Duke, the better he got, but isn’t aggressive in taking them, doesn’t shoot them well in transition
Will be 20 years old at draft, worked out for Grizzlies
Presents reasonable C&S threat from three, has the ability to get hot from deep
Smart cutter who gets into the paint and makes himself available for the pass
Not the most explosive athlete, doesn’t play above the rim, sometimes doesn’t feel like he gets off the ground
21) Tari Eason, Sophomore - LSU
Forward, 6’8”, 215 lbs
16.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.9 spg
52.1% / 35.9% / 80.3%
Top 15 steal rate in CBB, 7’3” wingspan
Only played 24 minutes per game. All numbers and volume increased from freshman season at Cincy
Fantastic athlete with excellent ability to play above the rim
Usage rate over 30%
Some potential to carry the ball down the court
3 stocks per game. Played a lot of minutes at center but has the ability to guard many different positions.
Stays in front of guys on the perimeter on defense and also closes out well
Draws fouls at at 15th highest clip and converts at the line over 80%
He’s huge and strong and can bully his way to the rack. Vast majority of shots were close 2’s
Bad on pullups and far two’s
Only goes to the right hand and turns the ball over a lot
Eason is great athlete with defense being his primary attribute with some outside shooting and finishing at the rim
22) Nikola Jovic, Mega Mozzart
Forward, 6’10”, 240 lbs
11.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.3 apg
43.3% / 36.4% / 75.4%
19 years old playing 28 mpg
Pretty quick, quicker than he looks, good ball handling abilities
Likes the ball in the mid post, fadeaways, hooking around defender
Definitely has deep NBA range
Good knack for getting out in transition and finishing at the rim or finding the cutters
Not an elite shooter yet, but a good scorer and creator. Even balance of those two areas
High bball IQ and ability to get open
Really good passer for someone his height
Not the greatest athlete, not a great leaper except in transition
Doesn’t always take best shots, could it be a result of system
Defensive niche is a question mark. Average at best
I see him as a potential high level role player with the ability to score in bunches and create for others. Fun combination of scorer and shot creator for others
23) Malaki Branham, Freshman - Ohio State
Guard, 6’5”, 180 lbs
13.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.0 apg
49.8% / 41.6% / 83.3%
Explosive scorer in the mid-range with good pull-up
Not a heavy sample size of threes (89 attempts)
A lot of his mid-range game body language looks like Westbrook
73% finisher on close twos via floater and layups
Over 43% on C&S in half court, 44% off the dribble
Not a fantastic creator off the dribble for others
At the rim he doesn’t seem comfortable finishing with contact
Gets blocked a lot at the rim
Solid passer to his guys on the interior and also some ability to dish outside
Isn’t big enough to muscle bigger guys out of the way
Not a super impressive defender despite having all of the tools
Three point shooting upside is the main reason that a team would want him. Probably a bench scorer
24) Jalen Williams, Junior - Santa Clara
Wing, 6’ 6”, 195 lbs
18.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 4.2 apg
51.3% / 39.6% / 80.9%
Change of pace guard who deftly maneuvers around screens and the defense
Can score from all three levels
Utilizes turnarounds and quick shots to throw off the defense
Very tall frame, not explosive leaper
Has some improving to do on ball handling as it feels like just a tad he lets the ball dribble him
Likes to utilize pull-ups in the mid-range
Good percentage on C&S threes
Works hard on defense though he isn’t the quickest guy out there
Knows how to use his body to shield the ball and get himself in position to score
The way he dribbles with hesitation seems built for PnR action
Just barely 21 years old, major improvements from So to Jr year
Pretty nifty passer with wraparounds, one arms, no looks etc. Caught his teammates off guard a lot just because of how quick he can get the ball off
Long arms with ability to disrupt, good anticipation from off the ball, fights through screens, solid defender
25) Justin Lewis, Freshman - Marquete
Forward, 6’7”, 235 lbs
16.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.7 apg
44.0% / 34.9% / 76.1%
Shot from all over the court, struggle most in mid-range, got to the rack a lot with 140 attempts there
7’2 wingspan, 35” vert with large hands
He’s got great NBA size that provides versatility for him
Ability to power himself to the rim and finish creatively
Right now is a little rough around the edges but he would be an athletic guy that teams could develop.
Feels like a Kuminga or Scottie Barnes-lite. Really good athlete who doesn’t have a defined role, but he does already have shooting ability
Strong enough to get his way when driving to the rim
Likes the quick spin move in traffic
Over 5 three point attempts per game
Surprised he doesn’t have more blocks
He’s a player who could develop into meaningful role and if he goes late first or early second, that will be a steal
27) Ty Ty Washington - Freshman, Kentucky
CG, 6’3”, 197 lbs
12.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.9 apg
45.1% / 35.0% / 75%
6’9” wingspan
Was he really given the chance to thrive in Cal’s system?
Good assist to turns ratio (3.9:1.6). He was the secondary playmaker at UK behind Wheeler
46% shooter in the mid-range on 177 attempts. 35% on around 100 threes
Solid C&S guy, pullup three not as solid
Doesn’t get to the rack too much. 60% on 57 attempts at the rim
Good distributor on lobs and out of PNRs with bigs. Teams go under on PNR though
Pull-up scoring and deceleration is nice
Does not possess elite quickness. In 1v1 defenders can stay in front of him on drives
Lacks elite athleticism, leaping ability, hangtime
Production took a dip after an ankle injury
Smart basketball player who could raise the floor of his team. No one thing he does excites me, but he can shoot well and is a solid guard
28) Jaden Hardy - G League Ignite
CG, 6’4”, 190 lbs
17.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.2 apg
35.1% / 26.9% / 88.2%
Wingspan of 6’9”. Seems like an underrated passer. Plays calm and smart in PNR
Only played in 12 games in G league
Likes to go 1v1 in isolation
Relies on step-back a lot in mid and long range
Almost 30% usage rate. Lots of time on the ball
Good handles, plays physical, dangerous when going downhill. Likes the ball in his hands
Someone who can create their own shot
Can punish teams who go under screens
Efficiency showed consistent improvements throughout the year
Gets to the rack but has some trouble finishing against pro bigs
About a third of his shots are from three
Strong C&S numbers, looks good coming off screens for shots
Not a great leaper or possessor of first step speed
Slow on D, gets beat a lot.
28) Gabriele Procida, 19 yo - Fortitudo
Wing, 6’7”, 195 lbs
7.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, .8 apg
52.2% / 38.3% / 78.4
18 minutes per game
Solid athleticism and can capitalize on alley ups and putbacks
Plays with some flash and pizazz
Good looking three point stroke
Pretty strong for his team
Upgrading him to crazy athletic with some of his putback dunks
Nice little step back move creates very good separation, especially with his height and wingspan
Nice on C&S, overall super smooth stroke
Heady IQ and ability to make smart passes in creative ways off drives and in transition
Not slow on defense like you would think from a lot of guys his size, long arms break up passing lanes. Almost a steal per game
Draft combine riser and probably a late first or early second round guy
29) Walker Kessler, Sophomore - Auburn
Big, 7’1”, 245 lbs
11.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 4.6 bpg
60.8% / 20.0% / 59.6%
Led CBB in block rate. Doesn’t feel the need to jump to block shots - good verticality. This is the obvious strength to his game
Top 10 in CBB in dunks and dunk completion rate
Decent lateral quickness and good ability to recover
Seven-five wingspan!
79 dunks on the season
Lots of pro basketball in his family
Not a terrible handler for a guy his size, can carry it up the floor on occasion
When he gets the ball in the paint, powerful spin move and finisher
Enjoys contact and doesn’t shy away from it. Honestly, he pushes through a bunch of it
Good hands on dive and rolls
78% on close twos - pretty much automatic once he gets in the paint due to massive size
30) Blake Wesley, Freshman - Notre Dame
Guard, 6’5”, 185 lbs
14.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.4 apg
40.4% / 30.3% / 65.7%
6’11’’ wingspan
Not a lot of eye-popping stats
Very good athlete who is both quick and has leaping ability
Sneaky dribbler who can get around people in a hurry. Big strength
Does not draw fouls much despite high usage rate (30)
Crazy high potential as a scorer, but that hasn’t materialized yet. It is going to be a flier for whoever takes him
Only around 50% scoring on close two’s
He is tall and with the wingspan he is a big guard who can push it up the court and keep tempo
SECOND ROUNDERS - ALPHABETICAL ORDER
Hugo Besson, 21 years old - France/NZ Breakers
CG, 6’3”, 195 lbs
13.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.5 apg
38.5% / 30.6% / 79.5%
Scores a lot in bunches
Likes the step back and has a lot of range
Six threes per game, many are pull-ups, some C&S
Passing ability is underrated and appears to have good court vision
Played a ton in the PNR, passing, pull-ups, drives
Crafty floater game
Turns the ball over a little too much, a lot of that is contested shots
As with many international guys, will be a target on defense due to lack of quickness, offensively he projects to be a lot of fun with confidence, curious what his wingspan is
Christian Braun, Junior - Kansas
Wing, 6’6”, 205 lbs
14.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.8 apg
49.5% / 38.6% / 73.3%
Solid defender with good hands. Almost 2 stocks per game
Most of three point attempts are C&S
Three point percentage and volume fluctuated through college
Knows how to relocate himself to be available for the pass from the driver
Can leak out in transition and finish at the rim
Creative finishing ability near the rim. Lots of scoop shots, pullups, floaters through contact. 63% on close two’s
Athletic with really good leaping ability. 27-27 on dunks. 40” vertical at combine
No issues pushing the ball up the court or driving to the rim. Not super quick, but glides through defense well
Good rebounder
Going to be a high floor guy who can play on both sides of the ball. Good size and athleticism. Hoping for more consistent shooting and maybe someone who can occasionally bring the ball up the court. Will be a good addition to a team already contending.
Kendall Brown, Freshman - Baylor
Forward, 6’ 8”, 205 lbs
9.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.9 apg
58.4% / 34.1% / 68.9%
Very low attempts from three, lots of them were wide open. Not a lot of confidence in his shot
Ability to carry the ball down the court, has guard ability and really really good speed in the open court
Very good leaping ability - great actually - can function on lobs and in the dunker spot great
43 dunks on the season and 76% on high volume of close two’s
Athleticism is his greatest strength
Versatile on defense with 6’11’’ wingspan
Didn’t get a lot of stocks in college, but operated on perimeter mostly
He’s still a very raw athlete who excels in the open court with or without the ball. Ability to create own shot in halfcourt isn’t great and not creating shots for others either. High defensive potential. Will take a few years to develop (3-4 years), but could be an all-around contributor at that point
John Butler, Freshman - Florida State
Wing/Forward, 7’1”, 190 lbs
5.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.2 bpg
41.6% / 39.3% / 44%
Shot equal amount of two’s and threes, not a good scorer from inside the arc
19 mpg
7’3” wingspan
Clearly dude is skinny as can be, no appetite for banging down low and is essentially a wing
Less than 1 FTA per game, so no barometer on if number is real or not
Smooth looking shot with some C&S off of stationary positioning and also PNP, moves pretty good without the ball on the outside to get himself open
Not creating shots for himself or others, more of a kick out option for his drivers
Drivers underestimate his length and creates a lot of shot blocking opportunities for him
Fairly quick of foot for his size, can block from weak side and behind in recovery
Kennedy Chandler, Freshman - Tennessee
Point, 6’ 170 lbs
13.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.7 apg,
46.4% / 38.3% / 60.6%
Very quick and surprising ability to leap
Lays it high off the glass on layups to avoid getting blocked
Excellent C&S guy
Wingspan of 6-5 and highest max vertical at the combine
Savvy passer. Nothing fancy, but is efficient and knows where to put the ball
Operates craftily in the PnR. A strength of his for sure
2.2 steals per game, very solid on defense with his quick hands and feet
He will be a pest on defense and hustle hard. Obviously is undersized, but on the right defensive minded team, they could help cover up any inefficiencies he may have due to stature
Doesn't shy away from firing away threes - nearly 4 attempts per game
Needs to develop a runner as he won’t be able to create dunks for himself as easily at the next level
Not great going to his left
Tough player for his size and works his butt off on D
Max Christie, Freshman - Michigan State
Guard, 6’6”, 190 lbs
9.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.5 apg
38.2% / 31.7% / 82.4%
Under 50% on close two’s plus he didn’t like taking them, most of shots were jumpers
Not an extreme athlete and doesn’t like contact, only 1 trip per game
Not a great three point percentage, but likely potential there
Shot a lot in the mid-range, where he was 41%
6’9” wingspan and moves quickly to stay in front of guys on the perimeter
Already a really good on-ball defender, ability to recover quickly (strength)
For being skinny, he plays pretty strong against guys trying to post him
Likes to create his own shot off the dribble
Likes taking shots, definitely a score-first type of guy
Still seems really young and raw, will need some time to develop, a few years away from contributing on offense constantly, but could be good on D out of the gate
Kofi Cockburn, Junior - Illinois
Center, 7’, 290 lbs
20.9 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 1.0 bpg
59.3% / 00.0 % / 65.5%
Freaking massive human, 7’4” wingspan who dropped some weight and is good shape right now for combine
Top 50 rebounding on both sides of the ball
Draws a lot of fouls. Over 7 fta per game in 30 minutes
Was fed the ball a ton with a usage rate of 30. Mostly back to the basket, back-em down or hook shots
Shot 40% in mid-rang, which is not bad
Bully ball down low and he was 52/56 on dunks
Many blocks from help side
How will he be able to operate in the PNR on O and D? From the tape he seems like he has put effort into becoming more agile. He still prefers to be closer to the basket
The thought of being blindsided by one of his screens gives me an immediate headache
Could see him as a monster guy who can come off the bench or play situationally against other bruisers
JD Davison, Freshman - Alabama
Point Guard, 6’2”, 195 lbs
8.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.3 apg
46.3% / 30.1% / 72.8%
Top 80 assist rate in CBB (29) in 25 mpg
Heavy heavy turnover rate (29)
Most of his scoring came near the rim, he was 72nd percentile there
Athleticism and leaping ability appear to be there. He is also really quick. 6’6” wingspan
Fun passer out of PNR
Finesse player more than a power player
Don’t think he is near ready for the NBA. Needs multiple years in G League before being able to consistently contribute at the highest level off the bench as an up-tempo pg.
Caleb Houstan, Freshman - Michigan
Wing, 6’8”, 205 lbs
10.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.4 apg
38.4% / 35.5% / 78.3%
Good free throw percentage and three point percentage, but far two’s yikes and 55% near the rim
Strength is C&S, and coming off of screens to score
50 more three point attempts than twos
Limited athletically with only 2 dunks and not a great first step, spot up shooter will be strength
Dribbling and driving is not great, but deceptive passing ability
A little slow on defense, but long frame keeps guys honest
Shooting is what he will get drafted for
Ismael Kamagate, France
Big, 6’11”, 235 lbs
11.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.6 bpg
64.3% / 00.0 / 65.4%
Tall lanky frame
Converts well at the rim, especially on drop offs
Good feel off the PnR. Once his momentum is going towards the hoop he can finish string, one of his biggest strengths
Lots and lots of dunks
27 mpg and 6.8 shot attempts
Decent mid range game
Excellent shot blocker, chase down, help side, all the blocks
Curious what wingspan is, looks crazy
Knows how to get open in transition
Despite wiry frame, good screen-setter
Good post defense, but may get bullied by the big bigs
Recovers decently well against guards on perimeter PNR, switches, drops etc
Needs a few tears to further develop but could be a good big off the bench or low usage starter, especially if jump shot develops and keeps teams honest
Trevor Keels, Freshman - Duke
Wing, 6’4”, 225 lbs
11.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.7 apg
41.9% / 31.2% / 67%
Doesn’t play above the rim much, only 2 dunks on the season, but 61% conversion rate on close two’s
Shot selection almost 50/50 from twos to threes
+3” wingspan
Very strong player with ability to bully skinnier guards, bounces right off of contact on his drives
Has a dependable post-up game
Low turnover rate, didn’t have the most usage at Duke, but good passing ability in PnR, and likes to kick out for three
Not the fleetest of foot, more of a slower methodical driver, but can pass quickly, doesn’t struggle to release
Shooting was not great at Duke, how will that translate? Can he improve there? Lots of buzz on his shooting upside
Did not shoot the pull-up well, disappointing from far two’s
Doesn’t trust his left hand much
May lack the quickness to guard smaller guards
To compete in NBA, he will need to become consistent shooter and develop his dribbling some more as well. Passing is good, but quickness is a concern.
Christian Koloko, Junior - Arizona
Center, 7’ 1”, 230 lbs
12.6 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.8 bpg
64.2% / 00.0% / 73.5%
Gets up and down the floor in transition
Really long arms and athletic frame
Decent footwork and likes the right handed hook shot
83 dunks on the season. Looks good in the dunker spot and on the run
No three point range, but did convert on long two’s at a good clip. Free throw line jumper looks good.
Draws a lot of fouls
Top 25 shot blocker in CBB. Really good from the weak side.
Knows how to establish himself with good post positioning or make the smart cut to the rim
Strong offensive rebounder
Flashes of potential on the PnR
Has only been playing basketball for a handful of years.
Really high upside if he can develop any sort of deeper shot. Great help side shot blocker and has a good knack for cutting and getting easy lobs.
Jake LaRavia, Junior - Wake Forest
Forward, 6’9”, 228 lbs
14.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 3.7 apg
55.9% / 38.4% / 77.7%
Big dude who can stretch the floor with over 50% on long twos and 38% from three. Low volume on threes, but was the best in the three point star drill among frontcourt (17/25)
2.7 stocks per game
Can definitely guard traditional 4’s when they are away from the hoop
Switched a lot on defense at wake
High defensive BBIQ
Dependable defender who stays home, defends with verticality, and solid on the weak side
Not a creator of his own shot from faceup, prefers to turn into a post-up possession
Strong and finished on 67% on close two’s
Sneaky good passer with 20% assist rate and 3.7 dimes per game
Smart cutter with good finishing ability
Pretty good ball-handling for someone of his size, was shorter and a PG for a while in high school
Excels as a C&S guy instead of someone who creates his own shot
A little slow laterally, so will struggle with guarding smaller and quicker players outside
Could be a solid stretch 4 who can give you some outside shooting and good defensive effort
Kenneth Lofton Jr., Sophomore - Louisiana Tech
Forward, 6’7”, 275 lbs
16.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 2.8 apg
53.9% / 20.0% / 67.2%
Only 19 three point attempts,, hit a few at draft combine
246 close two’s at a 63% clip
Crafty footwork in the post
Can jump better than expected, jump off two feet and dunk strong
Z-Bo vibes with his bully ball and left hand lol, super creative near the rim and finds ways to score the ball with his touch
Variety of up and unders, quick releases near the rim
“Jump” shot looks smooth, will need this in NBA because he probably won’t get as much at the rim due to playing against better and taller post players
6’11” wingspan
Decent passing skills
Not the quickest so perimeter defense is a question
5.5 FTA but struggled to convert, did improve 7 percentage points from freshman season
Bryce McGowans, Freshman - Nebraska
Guard, 6’ 7”, 179 lbs
16.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.4 apg
40.3% / 27.4% / 83.1%
Shot nearly 200 free throws, so good percentage on high volume, forces a lot of contact at the rim, goes right at guys. So much of his scoring is off of free throws
Ability to get to the rim by gliding through the defense, ok at finishing
Pretty bad on long two’s
Not the quickest first step or best leaping ability but nothing bad there
Operated a lot in the PnR at Nebraska. The team was horrible so defenses could focus on him
Inconsistent shooter with upside, takes a while to load
Pretty low assist rate and high turnover rate, not a distributor, definitely a score first off-ball guard
Not producing many turnovers on defense, doesn’t play with his hands up and pokes at the ball, which enables guys to drive past him
Often overlooks teammates to try and make a tough play at the rim
Josh Minott, Freshman - Memphis
Wing, 6’8”, 205 lbs
6.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.9 apg
52.2% / 14.3% / 75.4%
Low and inconsistent minutes over the course of the season for Memphis (14.6 mpg)
63% finisher on close 2’s, which were the majority of his shots. Barely shot the three at all (14 3PA)
23.7 PER…made an impact when he was out there
Very good rebounder on both sides of the court
Elite block (5.4) and steal (3.1) rates. Could be a defensive wildcard who wreaks havoc.
Exciting dunking ability. Backdoor lob threat. Cuts well
Extremely talented athlete. Long wingspan, active and quick hands
Could play a 4 or small 5. Can guard and switch 1-5
Some games seemed a little big for him, turn rate not ideal. Has some maturing to do, but ceiling is very high
Pretty much only scored near the basket, mid range wasn’t pretty, and bad from three
Will succeed as a high energy, fast moving, defensive and dunker
Dribbling and driving ability not there. Ok first step, but then slows down. Frequent bad decisions on shots at that point. Very raw prospect who could end up being really good.
Jean Montero, Overtime Elite
Guard, 6’2’’, 170 lbs
16.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 4.7 apg, 3.4 spg
40% / 27% / 75%
Deep range from three
Has been in pro leagues since 16
Slightly plus wingspan
Definitely a ball-dominant guy who probably needs high usage rate
Came from Spain to play in OTE league
Some tough shot choices off the dribble
Small frame, very speedy, and is a crafty dribbler
Attempts floaters near the rim, not someone who is going to play above the rim
Tough to tell how good of a finisher he actually is at the rim, doesn’t like contact too much
Good passer in transition and finding cutters in the halfcourt
Good rebounder for his size and also great steal rate but tries to do it too often. Tough for team defense
Top third in athleticism among guards in combine
Defensive commitment concerns, will only be able to guard 1 position
One of the youngest guys in the draft
Very good 1v1 iso player. Needs development with his shooting in order to make himself more valuable in two-guard lineups. Quick hands on defense (hence the steal rate), but not physically imposing, so could get bodied and bullied by bigger guards.
Andrew Nembhard, Senior - Gonzaga
Guard, 6’5”, 195 lbs
11.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.8 apg
45.2% / 38.3% / 87.3%
Impressive outing in the combine with 26 and 11
During season shot 49 NBA threes at 43% clip
Played 80% of the minutes at Gonzaga
Assist rate of 26.3! With usage near 20
Ability to push the tempo, finish through contact
Lots of PnR at Gonzaga, finding ways to feed for three and also on the full roll with Timme and Chet
Can create his own threes with step backs or off of DHO
Consistent across all four years of college, what you see is what you get
Based on his experience and posie, likely a guy who can immediately come in and run backup point on a good team
Ryan Rollins, Sophomore - Toledo
Combo Guard, 6’2”, 180 lbs
18.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.6 apg
46.8% / 31.7% / 80.2%
6’10” wingspan, one of the highest + in the combine
Still only 19 years old
Scores at all three levels, gets to the line a lot
Lots of points in the mid range on pull-ups
Likes to score in iso situations
Good athleticism but not elite, good jumping ability off of two feet, though on straight line drives he isn’t quite quick enough to get past some faster guys
Pretty skinny but long arms and quickness are intriguing
He’s a bucket, and I really like his handles as well, ability to slide around and extremely quick crossover
Can make some very clever dump passes
Almost 2 steals per game, good anticipation in passing lanes, good help side defense
Will need to establish some three point shooting consistency to fully evolve at the next level
David Roddy, Junior - Colorado State
Wing, 6’6”, 252 lbs
19.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.9 apg
57.1% / 43.8% / 69.1%
High usage, high efficiency player
Over 2 STOCKS per game
64.9 true shooting with eFG% of 63.4
He is huge and powerful, solid ability to jump off of 2 feet
Fun ball handling abilities
Spin move towards and away from hoop with a post-up package as well, loves the spin move
Great three point shooting on over 100 attempts
Good vision to teammates with quick whipping passes
Very physical and slows down/speeds up the game as he pleases
Near 7’ wingspan
Potential to be a knock down shooter and I like his offensive game with his good touch even with tremendous size
Dereon Seabron, Sophomore - NC State
Guard, 6’7”, 180 lbs
17.3 ppg, 8.2 rpb, 3.2 apg
49.1% / 25.6% / 71.3%
One of top rebounding guards in CBB
Gets to the cup. Over 300 shots near the rim, but finished in the 31st percentile at 55%
Only 44 3PA and terrible from midrange on low attempts
Fouls a lot and also draws a lot of fouls
Really solid player in the fast break, can get up the court in a hurry
Good cutter who knows how to find crevices to get open
Very strong for his size and plays through contact a lot. Uses physicality to get to the rim
Pretty much not a shooter. Bad C&S numbers.
Needs to have the ball in his hand. Good assist rate of 19.1
Questionable defensive impact
Guy who is going to dribble the ball into the ground trying to get to the rim and you may not see much on the defensive side. Can’t spread the floor.
Matteo Spagnolo, Italy
Guard, 6’4”, 195 lbs
12.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.6 apg
44.0% / 44.1% / 86.1%
Flashy passer, comes up with creative ways to get his teammates the ball, a lot on cuts and dives from the dunker spot
Likes to push the temp and looks ahead for teammates
27 minutes per game, 19 years old. Has been playing pro ball since he was 13/14
Very good dribbler, likes to crouch and keep the ball low to the ground and he weaves through defense
Good scoring ability
Utilizes a step back and a mid range floater
Deep range on his three point shots
Not many of the bigs he played against look like imposing rim protector
Really like his ability to create and score. Not many of his assists came from three pointers, but in the NBA, I think he could easily develop the sense to find his guys on the three point line and earn himself some more assists
Jabari Walker, Sophomore - Colorado
Forward, 6’8”, 200 lbs
14.6 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 1.2 apg
46.1% / 34.6% / 78.4%
Very good rebounder, elite on defensive end especially
Draws fouls as a good clip
His team was very reliant on him offensively with high usage
7’ wingspan, built more like a wing than someone who will hang down low
Solid defender who moves smoothly and keeps guys in front of him
Definitely can guard a variety of positions
1.4 STOCKS per game
Good defensive rotation, high defensive IQ
Three point attempts at a good clip, so good volume, needs to be C&S and is streaky
Athletically, not super quick or a leaper so he isn’t able to fully take advantage of his size
Inside the arc he’s not converting at a great rate, and doesn’t have ability to creat for himself in the mid range
Could be a decent 3-D guy if he can add more versatility to his shot making
Peyton Watson, Freshman - UCLA
Wing, 6’8”, 200 lbs
3.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, .8 apg
32.2% / 22.6% / 68.8%
7’ wingspan
Ranked in lower end of wing athleticism at combine
Terrible offensive impact in college, EFG of 35.2, ORTG of 83.6
Took 87 twos and 31 threes in season
On defensive end had 1.2 STOCKS in just 12 mpg
Appears that he has guard skills but didn’t consistently show them, lack of opportunity/minutes?
Seems more athletic than combine numbers show
Good anticipation on defense, gets to run quickly on defense to challenge shots
Would like to see him at a different level for an additional year, definitely a development candidate with a high ceiling, but super raw
Alondes Williams, Junior - Wake Forest
Combo Guard, 6’5”, 200 lbs
18.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 5.2 apg
50.7% / 28.2% / 69.1%
Usage near 30 and assist rate of 3.1
Tons of damage near the rack, 66% on 249 attempts
Took 4 threes a game but not hitting them
23 years old
Flashy passer who gets the ball to his guys in creative ways and likes to push the ball in transition, likes one handed snap passes
Spent a lot of time with the ball in his hands
Slinks you the rim and finishes creatively and efficiently
Multiple trips to the line per game. Doesn’t mind contact on drives
One of the better passers in the draft
Third in CBB in total turnovers
Good cutter who can find ways to get open toward the rim, but he isn’t great in the midrange
Smaller guards get by him, what is his role on D?
Older prospect where you take the good with the bad, creative passer and slasher with limited shooting ability and defense
Jaylin Williams, Sophomore - Arkansas
Forward, 6’10”, 245 lbs
10.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.1 bpg
46.1% / 23.0% / 72.9%
High block and defensive rebounding rates
63% near the rim
Understands where to be in both sides of the ball
Pretty mobile for a guy his size
Good athlete, can operate in PNR, short roll
Took over 50 charges in a season at Arkansas
Also had 2.6 assist, good rate for a bit man
Ability to operate in dunker spot
Rising up boards and looked good in combine
Multiple trips to the line each game
In combine looked really athletic, blocking shots, hitting shots, making passes, drawing charges, hustling, 7th in center standing reach
Truly doesn’t excel in anything, but he’s solid in every area, maybe even solid plus
